أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ بَكْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَمْدَانَ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ بِمَرْوَ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقَاضِي ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ؓ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Hamdan al-Sayrafi informed us at Marw, Isma'il ibn Ishaq al-Qadi narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us from al-A'mash from al-Musayyab ibn Rafi' from Tamim ibn Tarafah from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'People who raise their eyes to the sky during prayer must stop, or their sight will not return to them.'
