أَخْبَرَنَا السَّيِّدُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْعَلَوِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ أنبأ أَبُو حَامِدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَا ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لَمَّا أَهْبَطَهُ اللهُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَيْ رَبِّ {أَتَجْعَلُ فِيهَا مَنْ يُفْسِدُ فِيهَا وَيَسْفِكُ الدِّمَاءَ وَنَحْنُ نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ وَنُقَدِّسُ لَكَ قَالَ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ} [البقرة 30] قَالُوا رَبَّنَا نَحْنُ أَطْوَعُ لَكَ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ قَالَ اللهُ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ هَلُمُّوا مَلَكَيْنِ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ حَتَّى نُهْبِطَهُمَا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ فَنَنْظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ قَالُوا رَبَّنَا هَارُوتُ وَمَارُوتُ فَأُهْبِطَا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَمُثِّلَتْ لَهُمَا الزَّهْرَةُ امْرَأَةً مِنْ أَحْسَنِ الْبَشَرِ فَجَاءَتْهُمَا فَسَأَلَاهَا نَفْسَهَا فَقَالَتْ لَا وَاللهِ حَتَّى تَكَلَّمَا بِهَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةِ مِنَ الْإِشْرَاكِ قَالَا لَا وَاللهِ لَا نُشْرِكُ بِاللهِ أَبَدًا فَذَهَبَتْ عَنْهُمَا ثُمَّ رَجَعَتْ بِصَبِيٍّ تَحْمِلُهُ فَسَأَلَاهَا نَفْسَهَا فَقَالَتْ لَا وَاللهِ حَتَّى تَقْتُلَا هَذَا الصَّبِيَّ فَقَالَا لَا وَاللهِ لَا نَقْتُلُهُ أَبَدًا فَذَهَبَتْ ثُمَّ رَجَعَتْ بِقَدَحِ خَمْرٍ تَحْمِلُهُ فَسَأَلَاهَا نَفْسَهَا فَقَالَتْ لَا وَاللهِ حَتَّى تَشْرَبَا هَذَا الْخَمْرَ فَشَرِبَا فَسَكِرَا فَوَقَعَا عَلَيْهَا وَقَتَلَا الصَّبِيَّ فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَا قَالَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ وَاللهِ مَا تَرَكْتُمَا مِمَّا أَبَيْتُمَا عَلَيَّ إِلَّا قَدْ فَعَلْتُمَاهُ حِينَ سَكِرْتُمَا فَخُيِّرَا عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ بَيْنَ عَذَابِ الدُّنْيَا وَعَذَابِ الْآخِرَةِ فَاخْتَارَا عَذَابَ الدُّنْيَا تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ وَرَوَاهُ مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ كَعْبٍ قَالَ ذَكَرَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَعْمَالَ بَنِي آدَمَ فَذَكَرَ بَعْضَ هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ وَهَذَا أَشْبَهُ

Abdullah ibn Umar reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'When Allah sent Adam down to earth, the angels said: Our Lord, will You place therein one who will cause corruption and shed blood, while we glorify You with praise and sanctify You? He said: I know what you do not know. They said: Our Lord, we are more obedient to You than the children of Adam. Allah said to the angels: Bring forth two angels so We may send them down to earth to see how they act. They said: Our Lord, Harut and Marut. So they were sent down to earth, and the planet Venus was presented to them in the form of the most beautiful woman. She came to them, and they asked her for herself. She said: No, by Allah, not until you utter this word of polytheism. They said: No, by Allah, we will never associate anything with Allah. She left them, then returned carrying a child, and they asked her for herself. She said: No, by Allah, not until you kill this child. They said: No, by Allah, we will never kill him. She left, then returned with a cup of wine. They asked her for herself. She said: No, by Allah, not until you drink this wine. So they drank and became intoxicated, then they fell upon her and killed the child. When they sobered up, the woman said: By Allah, you did not refrain from anything you had refused me, for you did it all when you were drunk. They were then given the choice between the punishment of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter, and they chose the punishment of this world.' This was narrated solely by Zuhayr ibn Muhammad from Musa ibn Jubayr from Nafi'. Musa ibn Uqbah narrated it from Nafi' from Ibn Umar from Ka'b, which is more likely.
