أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ ؓ قَالَتْ سَأَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاذَا تَسْتَمْشِينَ؟ قُلْتُ بِالشُّبْرُمِ قَالَ حَارٌّ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ اسْتَمْشَيْتُ بِالسَّنَا قَالَ إِنْ كَانَ فِي شَيْءٍ شِفَاءٌ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ لَكَانَ فِي السَّنَا هَكَذَا

Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Muqri' informed us, al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, Yusuf ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, Abd al-Hamid ibn Ja'far narrated to us from Utbah ibn Abdullah al-Taymi, from Asma' bint Umays (may Allah be pleased with her) who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked me: 'What do you use as a purgative?' I said: 'Shubrum [euphorbia].' He said: 'It is hot.' She said: Then I said: 'I used senna as a purgative.' He said: 'If there were a cure for death in anything, it would be in senna.'"
