أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ ؓ قَالَ خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ نَحْرٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مَا نَبْدَأُ بِهِ فِي يَوْمِنَا هَذَا أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعَ فَنَنْحَرَ فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ أَصَابَ سُنَّتَنَا وَمَنْ ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ لَحْمٌ عَجَّلَهُ لِأَهْلِهِ لَيْسَ مِنَ النُّسُكِ فِي شَيْءٍ يَعْنِي فَقَامَ خَالِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ نِيَارٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَا ذَبَحْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ وَعِنْدِي جَذَعَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ مُسِنَّةٍ فَقَالَ اجْعَلْهَا مَكَانَهَا أَوْ قَالَ اذْبَحْهَا وَلَنْ تُوفِيَ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ 19110 وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيٌّ أَنْبَأَ أَحْمَدُ ثنا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ نَحْوَهُ وَقَالَ اجْعَلْهَا مَكَانَهَا وَلَنْ تُجْزِيَ أَوْ تُوفِيَ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ

Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan informed us, Ahmad ibn Ubayd al-Saffar narrated to us, Abu Muslim Ibrahim ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from Zubayd from al-Sha'bi from al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us on the Day of Sacrifice and said: "The first thing we begin with on this day of ours is to pray, then we return and slaughter. Whoever does so has followed our sunnah. Whoever slaughtered before praying, it is merely meat he hastened for his family and is not part of the ritual at all." My maternal uncle Abu Burdah ibn Niyar stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have already slaughtered, and I have a young ewe better than an older one." He said: "Make it its replacement" - or he said: "Slaughter it, but it will not suffice for anyone after you." And Ali informed us, Ahmad informed us, Abu Muslim narrated to us, Hajjaj ibn Minhal narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, and he mentioned it with its chain similarly, and said: "Make it its replacement, and it will not suffice or be acceptable for anyone after you."
