أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْعَنَزِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْعَطَّارُ الْحِيرِيُّ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْفَارِسِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ مَطَرٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الذُّهْلِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أنبأ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْجَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَعَاشِ النَّاسِ رَجُلٌ مُمْسِكٌ بِعِنَانِ فَرَسِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ يَطِيرُ عَلَى مَتْنِهِ كُلَّمَا سَمِعَ هَيْعَةً أَوْ فَزْعَةً طَارَ عَلَيْهِ يَبْتَغِي الْقَتْلَ وَالْمَوْتَ مَظَانَّهُ أَوْ رَجُلٌ فِي غَنِيمَةٍ فِي رَأْسِ شَعَفَةٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّعَفِ أَوْ بَطْنِ وَادٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَوْدِيَةِ يُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ وَيَعْبُدُ رَبَّهُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ الْيَقِينُ لَيْسَ مِنَ النَّاسِ إِلَّا فِي خَيْرٍ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu al-Hasan al-Anazi, from Uthman ibn Sa'id al-Darimi, from Yahya ibn Yahya; and Abu Nasr ibn Qatadah, Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Attar al-Hiri, and Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Farisi informed us, from Abu Amr ibn Matar, from Ibrahim ibn Ali al-Dhuhli, from Yahya ibn Yahya, from Abd al-Aziz ibn Abi Hazim, from his father, from Ba'jah, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who said: Among the best livelihoods is that of a man holding the reins of his horse in the cause of Allah, flying on its back; whenever he hears a call to battle or an alarm, he flies toward it seeking death and slaughter at its expected places. Or a man with a small flock on a mountain peak or in a valley, who establishes prayer, pays zakat, and worships his Lord until certainty (death) comes to him — he is among people only in goodness.
