وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْحِيرِيُّ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَضْرِبُ فِي الْخَمْرِ بِالنِّعَالِ وَالْجَرِيدِ أَرْبَعِينَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ ضَرَبَ أَرْبَعِينَ فَلَمَّا وَلِيَ عُمَرُ ؓ سُئِلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَشَاوَرَهُمْ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَوْفٍ ؓ أَرَى أَنْ تَضْرِبَهُ ثَمَانِينَ فَضَرَبَهُ ثَمَانِينَ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Anas narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to punish for drinking with sandals and palm branches — about forty. Abu Bakr also punished forty. When Umar became caliph, he was asked about it and consulted the companions. Ibn Awf said: "I think you should flog eighty." So he flogged eighty.
