Sahl ibn Abi Hathmah narrated the hadith of the qasamah: a man from Khaybar was found killed. The Prophet said to the victim's family: "Can you produce fifty oaths designating the killer?" They could not. He then asked the people of Khaybar to swear fifty oaths, but the family did not accept their oaths. The Prophet then paid the blood-money from the public treasury.
