أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أنا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ سَهْلٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَبِي الْحُبَابِ مَوْلَى بَنِي النَّجَّارِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا تَدْخُلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلَا تَمَاثِيلُ قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا إِنَّ هَذَا يُخْبِرُنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا تَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلَا تَمَاثِيلُ فَهَلْ سَمِعْتِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَتْ لَا وَلَكِنْ سَأُحَدِّثُكُمْ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ فَعَلَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ فِي غَزَاتِهِ فَأَخَذْتُ نَمَطًا فَسَتَرْتُهُ عَلَى الْبَابِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ فَرَأَى النَّمَطَ عَرَفْتُ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَجَذَبَهُ حَتَّى هَتَكَهُ وَقَطَّعَهُ وَقَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا أَنْ نَكْسُوَ الْحِجَارَةَ وَالطِّينَ قَالَتْ فَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ وِسَادَتَيْنِ وَحَشَوْتُهُمَا لِيفًا فَلَمْ يَعِبْ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us... from Zaid bin Khalid al-Juhani, from Abu Talhah al-Ansari, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or statues. He said: I went to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said to her: This man tells me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or statues. Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) mention that? She said: No, but I will tell you what I saw him do. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) go out on an expedition, and I took a decorated cloth and hung it over the door. When he returned and saw the cloth, I recognized the displeasure on his face. He pulled it down until he tore it and cut it up, and said: Allah did not command us to clothe stones and clay. She said: So we cut from it two cushions and stuffed them with fiber, and he did not find fault with me for that.
