أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو أنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ الْعِجْلِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَعَالَ الْفَرَائِضَ وَكَانَ أَكْثَرُ مَا أَعَالَهَا بِهِ الثُّلُثَيْنِ

Abu Sa'id ibn Abi Amr informed us: Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Nasr narrated to us: Husayn ibn Ali ibn al-Aswad al-Ijli narrated to us: Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us: Ibn Abi al-Zinad narrated from his father from Kharijah ibn Zayd ibn Thabit from his father that he was the first to apply the principle of 'awl (proportional increase) in inheritance cases, and the maximum he applied it was by two-thirds.
