Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us: Yahya ibn Abi Talib narrated to us: Yazid informed us from Shu'bah from Abu Qays: I heard Huzayl ibn Shurahbil saying: A man from Banu Asad asked Abu Musa al-Ash'ari about a daughter, granddaughter, and sister. He said: The daughter gets one-half and the sister gets one-half. Ask Ibn Mas'ud. So they asked him. He said: I would have erred if I did not judge as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) judged. He gave the daughter one-half, the granddaughter one-sixth, and the sister the remainder.
