حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنِي قَتَادَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ هِلَالَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ مِنْ بَنِي مَازِنِ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحَبَّةَ السَّوْدَاءَ شِفَاءٌ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ لَيْسَ السَّامَ و قَالَ قَتَادَةُ السَّامُ الْمَوْتُ.

Husayn narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Qatadah informed me, he said: I heard Hilal ibn Yazid, from Banu Mazin ibn Shayban, say: I heard Abu Hurayrah say, about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): 'This black seed is a cure for everything except death (al-sam).' Qatadah said: al-sam is death.
