حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَوَّامُ حَدَّثَنِي مَوْلًى لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشَّمْسَ حِينَ غَرَبَتْ فَقَالَ فِي نَارِ اللَّهِ الْحَامِيَةِ لَوْلَا مَا يَزَعُهَا مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ لَأَهْلَكَتْ مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ.

Yazid ibn Harun told us: al-Awwam informed us: a freed slave of Abdullah ibn Amr told me, from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw the sun when it set and said, "[It sets] into the scorching fire of Allah. Were it not for what restrains it by the command of Allah, it would destroy all that is on the earth."
