Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: Dawud ibn Qays informed us, I heard Amr ibn Shu'ayb narrating from his father from Abdullah ibn Amr who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was asked about the far' (firstborn animal sacrifice). He said: "The far' is a right. But if you leave it until it becomes a strong young ibn makhad (yearling) or ibn labun (two-year-old), and you use it to carry in the way of Allah or give it to a widow, that is better than slaughtering it while its flesh clings to its fur and you tip over your vessel and deprive your she-camel of milk."
