Hafs ibn Ghiyath told us, Layth told us, who said: I went in to see Salim ibn Abdullah while he was reclining on a cushion bearing images of birds and wild animals. I said: Is this not disliked? He said: No, only what is set up standing is disliked. My father Abdullah ibn Umar told me, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: Whoever makes an image will be punished - and Hafs said once: he will be required to breathe life into it, but he will not be able to.
