حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى وِسَادَةٍ فِيهَا تَمَاثِيلُ طَيْرٍ وَوَحْشٍ فَقُلْتُ أَلَيْسَ يُكْرَهُ هَذَا قَالَ لَا إِنَّمَا يُكْرَهُ مَا نُصِبَ نَصْبًا حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ صَوَّرَ صُورَةً عُذِّبَ وَقَالَ حَفْصٌ مَرَّةً كُلِّفَ أَنْ يَنْفُخَ فِيهَا وَلَيْسَ بِنَافِخٍ.

Hafs ibn Ghiyath told us, Layth told us, who said: I went in to see Salim ibn Abdullah while he was reclining on a cushion bearing images of birds and wild animals. I said: Is this not disliked? He said: No, only what is set up standing is disliked.
