Waki' told us, from Hisham ibn Sa'd, from 'Umar ibn Asid, from Ibn 'Umar, who said: We used to say, in the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, "The Messenger of God is the best of people, then Abu Bakr, then 'Umar." And Ibn Abi Talib was granted three qualities, any one of which would be dearer to me than red camels: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, married his daughter to him, and she bore him children; he closed all the doors opening onto the mosque except his door; and he gave him the banner on the day of Khaybar.
