Waki' told us, Nafi' ibn 'Umar al-Jumahi told us, from Sa'id ibn Hassan, from Ibn 'Umar, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, used to camp at 'Arafah in the valley of Namirah. When al-Hajjaj killed Ibn al-Zubayr, he sent to Ibn 'Umar asking at what hour the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, used to set out on this day. He said, "When it is that time, we set out." So al-Hajjaj sent a man to watch at what hour he set out. When Ibn 'Umar wanted to set out, he said, "Has the sun passed its zenith?" They said, "The sun has not passed its zenith." He said, "The sun has passed its zenith." They said, "It has not passed its zenith." When they said, "It has passed its zenith," he set out.
