'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam narrated to us: Sufyan ibn Husayn narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Salim, from Ibn 'Umar: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wrote the document of zakah but did not send it out to his agents until he passed away, and he had kept it bound with his sword. When he passed away, Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, acted upon it until he passed away, then 'Umar, until he passed away. In it was: for every five camels, one sheep; for ten, two sheep; for fifteen, three sheep; for twenty, four sheep; and for twenty-five, a one-year-old she-camel. My father said: Then an illness befell me in the gathering of 'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam, so I wrote down the rest of the hadith, but I think I did not understand some of it, so I doubted the remainder of the hadith, and left it at this point in the Musnad, in the hadith of al-Zuhri from Salim, because he had collected the hadith of al-Zuhri from Salim and narrated it to us in full in the hadith of Salim from Muhammad ibn Yazid, and in the hadith of 'Abbad from 'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam.
