حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُرَشِيِّ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ تَبِعَ جَنَازَةً فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ فَإِنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ الْقِيرَاطُ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ أُحُدٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ انْظُرْ مَا تُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ حَتَّى انْطَلَقَ بِهِ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ لَهَا يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْشُدُكِ بِاللَّهِ أَسَمِعْتِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ تَبِعَ جَنَازَةً فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ فَإِنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ فَقَالَتْ اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَشْغَلُنِي عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَرْسُ الْوَدِيِّ وَلَا صَفْقٌ بِالْأَسْوَاقِ إِنِّي إِنَّمَا كُنْتُ أَطْلُبُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَلِمَةً يُعَلِّمُنِيهَا وَأُكْلَةً يُطْعِمُنِيهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ أَنْتَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كُنْتَ أَلْزَمَنَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَعْلَمَنَا بِحَدِيثِهِ.

Hushaym told us, from Ya'la ibn Ata', from al-Walid ibn Abdul Rahman al-Jurashi, from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that he passed by Abu Hurayra while he was narrating from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said, "Whoever follows a funeral procession and prays over it has a qirat of reward, and if he witnesses its burial, he has two qirats — the qirat being greater than Mount Uhud." Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "Abu Hurayra, take care what you narrate from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Abu Hurayra rose up and went with him to Aisha and said to her, "O Mother of the Believers, I adjure you by Allah, did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, 'Whoever follows a funeral procession and prays over it has a qirat, and if he witnesses its burial, he has two qirats'?" She said, "By Allah, yes." Abu Hurayra said, "Indeed, planting date-palm shoots and trading in the markets never distracted me from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); I only sought from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a word he would teach me and a meal he would feed me." Ibn Umar then said to him, "You, Abu Hurayra, were the most attached to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) among us, and the most knowledgeable of us in his hadith."
