Yahya ibn Sa’id told us, from Shu’bah: Jami’ ibn Shaddad told us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Alqamah, who said: I heard Ibn Mas’ud say: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came from al-Hudaybiyah at night, and we halted on soft sandy ground. He said, "Who will keep watch for us?" Bilal said, "I will." He said, "Then you will fall asleep." He said, "No." But he slept until the sun rose. So-and-so and so-and-so woke up, among them Umar, and he said, "Make some noise!" The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, woke up and said, "Do what you used to do." When they had done so, he said, "Do like this — whoever among you sleeps or forgets a prayer should do the same."
