Yazid ibn Harun told us, he said Sharik ibn Abdullah informed us, from Jami' ibn Abi Rashid, from Mundhir al-Thawri, from al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ali, who said: A woman from the Ansar, who is alive today - if you wish I will take you to her, I said no - told me: I entered upon Umm Salamah, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon her seemingly angry, so I hid myself with the sleeve of my garment, and he spoke words I did not understand. She said: He said, "When evil spreads in the land and is not restrained, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sends down His punishment upon the people of the land." She said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, even though there are righteous people among them?" He said, "Yes, and among them are the righteous, who are afflicted with what afflicts the people; then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, takes them up to His forgiveness and mercy" - or "to His mercy and forgiveness."
