Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us: Sharik ibn Abdullah informed us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Talhah, from his uncle Imran ibn Talhah, from his mother Hamnah bint Jahsh, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, "I am suffering from severe, irregular bleeding [istihadah]." He said, "Use a cotton pad." I said, "It is worse than that - it gushes forth in a torrent." He said, "Then bind yourself tightly and menstruate, in Allah's knowledge, for six or seven days each month, then perform a complete ghusl, and fast and pray for twenty-three or twenty-four days. Perform ghusl for the dawn prayer, delay the noon prayer and hasten the afternoon prayer, then perform ghusl, delay the sunset prayer and hasten the night prayer, then perform ghusl - and this is the dearer of the two options to me." And Yazid did not once say, "Perform ghusl for the dawn prayer."
