قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً كَانَتْ تُهَرَاقُ الدَّمَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاسْتَفْتَتْ لَهَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لِتَنْظُرْ عِدَّةَ اللَّيَالِي وَالْأَيَّامِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تَحِيضُهُنَّ مِنْ الشَّهْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصِيبَهَا الَّذِي أَصَابَهَا فَلْتَتْرُكْ الصَّلَاةَ قَدْرَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ الشَّهْرِ فَإِذَا بَلَغَتْ ذَلِكَ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ ثُمَّ تَسْتَثْفِرْ بِثَوْبٍ ثُمَّ تُصَلِّي.

He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from Nafi', from Sulayman b. Yasar, from Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that a woman used to have continuous bleeding in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sought a ruling for her, and he said: "Let her observe the number of nights and days that she used to menstruate each month before what afflicted her began, and let her abstain from prayer for that portion of the month; then when she reaches that point, let her perform the ritual bath, then bind a cloth, and then pray."
