Narrated to us by Abd al-Razzaq, who said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, who said: Habib ibn Abi Thabit informed me that Abd al-Hamid ibn Abdullah ibn Abi 'Amr and al-Qasim informed him that they both heard Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman relate that Umm Salamah, wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), informed him that when she came to Madinah, she told them she was the daughter of Abu Umayyah ibn al-Mughirah, but they disbelieved her and said, "How the strangers lie!" - until some people among them set out for Hajj, and they said, "What will you write to your family?" So she wrote with them, and they returned to Madinah confirming her account, and she rose even more in honor with them. She said: "When I gave birth to Zaynab, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me and proposed marriage. I said, 'One like me is not to be married - I have no more children in me, I am jealous by nature, and I have dependents.' He said, 'I am older than you; as for jealousy, Allah, Mighty and Sublime, will remove it, and as for the dependents, that is a matter for Allah and His Messenger.'" So he married her, and he used to come to her and say, "Where is Zunab?" until 'Ammar ibn Yasir came one day and snatched her away, saying, "This one is keeping the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) away!" - and she had been nursing her. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and said, "Where is Zunab?" She said, "Qaribah bint Abi Umayyah happened to be with her, and Ammar ibn Yasir took her." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I will come to you tonight." She said: "So I got up and brought out some grains of barley that were in a jar, and brought out some fat, and I made a thick porridge for him." She said: "So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spent the night, then in the morning he said, upon rising: 'You have a special honor due from your household - if you wish, I will spend seven nights with you; but if I grant you seven, I must grant seven to each of my wives as well.'" [Also] narrated to us by Rawh, who said: Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, who said: Habib ibn Abi Thabit informed me that Abd al-Hamid ibn Abdullah ibn Abi 'Amr and al-Qasim ibn Muhammad informed him that they both heard Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham relate that Umm Salamah, wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), informed him - and he mentioned the hadith - except that he said: She said, "I set down my grinding-stone and brought out some grains of barley."
