Ibn Ishaq said: Ibn Shihab said: Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba narrated to me, from Aisha, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, I often heard him say, "God never takes a prophet's soul until He gives him the choice." She said: When the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, was in his final hours, the last words I heard from him were as he said, "Rather, the Highest Companion, from Paradise." She said: I said, "Then, by God, he will not choose us," and I knew that he was the one who used to tell us, "No prophet's soul is taken until he is given the choice."
