Ya'qub narrated to us: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim narrated to me, from his father al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from Aisha, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, set out for the Hajj five nights before the end of Dhu al-Qa'da, and the people thought of nothing but the Hajj, until, when he was at Sarif, and the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, had brought with him the sacrificial animal, along with prominent people, he ordered the people to exit ihram with an Umrah except those who had brought a sacrificial animal. I began menstruating that day. He entered upon me while I was weeping, and said, "What is the matter with you, Aisha? Perhaps you have begun your period?" She said: I said, "Yes, by God, I wish I had not come out with you all this year on this journey." He said, "Do not do that, do not say that, for you will perform all that a pilgrim performs, except that you will not circumambulate the House." She said: So I proceeded with my Hajj, and the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, entered Mecca, and everyone who had no sacrificial animal exited ihram, and his wives exited ihram with an Umrah. When it was the Day of Sacrifice, I was brought much meat of cattle, thrown down in my house, and I said, "What is this?" They said, "The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, slaughtered cattle on behalf of his wives." Until, when it was the night of al-Hasba, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me with my brother Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr, and he had me perform an Umrah from al-Tan'im in place of the Umrah I had missed. My father said: And Ya'qub narrated to us in another place regarding the Hajj: and the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered his wives, and they exited ihram with an Umrah, and the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered the people that whoever had no sacrificial animal with him should exit ihram, and ordered whoever had a sacrificial animal among the prominent people to remain in his state of ihram.
