حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرَدْنَ أَنْ يُرْسِلْنَ عُثْمَانَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ يَسْأَلْنَهُ مِيرَاثَهُنَّ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ لَهُنَّ عَائِشَةُ أَوَلَيْسَ قَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَاهُ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ.

Ishaq ibn Isa narrated to us, he said: Malik informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Urwa, from Aisha: that the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away, wanted to send Uthman to Abu Bakr to ask him for their inheritance from the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him. Aisha said to them, "Did the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, not say, 'We are not inherited from; whatever we leave is charity'?"
