حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ أَبُو خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ وَالسُّلْطَانُ وَلِيُّ مَنْ لَا وَلِيَّ لَهُ.

Sulayman ibn Hayyan Abu Khalid told us, Hajjaj told us, from al-Zuhri, from Urwa, from Aisha, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no marriage except with a guardian, and the ruler is the guardian of one who has no guardian."
