قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كَانَتْ فِي بَرِيرَةَ ثَلَاثُ سُنَنٍ إِحْدَى السُّنَنِ الثَّلَاثِ أَنَّهَا عُتِقَتْ فَخُيِّرَتْ فِي زَوْجِهَا وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهَا الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ وَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْبُرْمَةُ تَفُورُ بِلَحْمٍ فَقُرِّبَ إِلَيْهِ خُبْزٌ وَأُدْمٌ مِنْ أُدْمِ الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَمْ أَرَ بُرْمَةً فِيهَا لَحْمٌ فَقَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَحْمٌ تُصُدِّقَ بِهِ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ وَأَنْتَ لَا تَأْكُلُ الصَّدَقَةَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُوَ لَهَا صَدَقَةٌ وَهُوَ لَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ.

He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik - he said: And Ishaq ibn Isa told us, Malik informed me - from Rabi'ah ibn Abd al-Rahman, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from Aisha, that she said: "There were three precedents established through the case of Barirah. One of the three precedents was that she was freed and then given the choice regarding her husband. And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said concerning her, 'The wala' belongs to the one who frees.' And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered while a pot was boiling with meat, and bread and some of the household's condiment was brought near to him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'Did I not see a pot with meat in it?' They said, 'Yes indeed, O Messenger of Allah, but that meat was given as charity to Barirah, and you do not eat charity.' The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'It is charity for her, but a gift for us.'"
