Mu'ammal told us: Nafi', meaning Ibn Umar, told us: Ibn Abi Mulaykah told us, from A'ishah, who said: during the illness of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in which he passed away, he said: "Call for me Abu Bakr and his son, that he may write, so that no one who covets it may covet the matter after Abu Bakr, and no one who has ambitions may harbor them." Then he said: "Allah refuses that, and so do the Muslims" - twice - and Mu'ammal said once "and the believers." A'ishah said: so Allah refused, and the Muslims - and Mu'ammal said once "and the believers" - "except that it should be my father; so it was my father."
