حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ قَدْ خَيَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نِسَاءَهُ أَفَكَانَ طَلَاقًا.

Muhammad bin Ja'far told us, saying Shu'bah told us, from Isma'il bin Abi Khalid, who said: I heard al-Sha'bi narrating from Masruq, from Aisha, that she said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gave his wives the choice -- was that a divorce?
