حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ يَغْسِلُ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ يَأْخُذُ بِيَمِينِهِ لِيَصُبَّ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فَيَغْسِلُ فَرْجَهُ حَتَّى يُنَقِّيَهُ ثُمَّ يَغْسِلُ يَدَهُ غَسْلًا حَسَنًا ثُمَّ يُمَضْمِضُ ثَلَاثًا وَيَسْتَنْشِقُ ثَلَاثًا وَيَغْسِلُ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ يَصُبُّ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ الْمَاءَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ فَإِذَا خَرَجَ غَسَلَ قَدَمَيْهِ.

Affan told us, saying Hammad -- that is, Ibn Salamah -- told us, from Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, from Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman, that Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, whenever he wished to perform a full ritual bath from major impurity, would wash his hands three times, then take water with his right hand to pour on his left, and wash his private parts until he cleansed them thoroughly, then wash his hand well, then rinse his mouth three times and sniff water into his nose three times, and wash his face three times and his forearms three times, then pour water on his head three times, then perform the full bath; and when he came out, he would wash his feet.
