الترجمة الإنجليزية
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah used to say, "Tell me of a man who entered Paradise without ever having prayed." When people did not know whom he meant, they would ask him who it was, and he would say, "Al-Usayrim of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, Amr b. Thabit b. Waqsh." Al-Husayn said: I asked Mahmud b. Labid, "What was the story of al-Usayrim?" He said: He used to refuse Islam despite his people's urging. When the day of Uhud came and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set out for Uhud, Islam became clear to him, so he embraced it, took up his sword, and went out early until he reached the fighting men, entering the thick of the battle and fighting until his wounds overcame him. Then, while men of Banu Abd al-Ashhal were searching the battlefield for their own dead, they came upon him and said, "By Allah, this is indeed al-Usayrim - what has brought him here? We had left him rejecting this matter." They asked him what had brought him, saying, "What brought you here, O Amr - war against your people, or desire for Islam?" He said, "Rather, desire for Islam. I believed in Allah and His Messenger and embraced Islam, then took up my sword and went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and fought until what befell me befell me." He did not live long after that before he died in their hands. They mentioned him to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said, "He is indeed among the people of Paradise."
