Yunus ibn Muhammad told us, Aban and Abd al-Samad told us, Hisham told us, from Yahya, from Abu Ja'far, from Ata' ibn Yasar, from one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: while a man was praying with his lower garment trailing, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him, "Go and perform ablution." He said: so he went and performed ablution, then came back. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him, "Go and perform ablution." He said: so he went and performed ablution, then came back. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the matter that you ordered him to perform ablution, then remained silent about him?" He said, "He was praying with his lower garment trailing, and Allah does not accept the prayer of a servant whose lower garment is trailing."
