حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُقَيْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ إِنْسَانٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الْقَسَامَةَ كَانَتْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَسَامَةُ الدَّمِ فَأَقَرَّهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى مَا كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَقَضَى بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أُنَاسٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ مِنْ بَنِي حَارِثَةَ فِي دَمٍ ادَّعَوْهُ عَلَى الْيَهُودِ.

Hajjaj told us, Layth told us, Uqayl told us, from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman and Sulayman ibn Yasar, from a man of the Ansar among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: that the oath-swearing over blood (qasamah) existed in the pre-Islamic era, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, confirmed it as it had been in the pre-Islamic era, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, judged by it between some people of the Ansar from Banu Haritha regarding blood which they claimed against the Jews.
