حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَسَّانَ بْنَ بِلَالٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُصَلُّونَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُونَ إِلَى أَهْلِيهِمْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ يَرْتَمُونَ يُبْصِرُونَ وَقْعَ سِهَامِهِمْ.

Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'ba told us: Abu Bishr told us: I heard Hassan ibn Bilal narrating from a man of Aslam, one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that they used to pray the sunset prayer with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then return to their families at the far end of Madina, shooting arrows at targets and watching where their arrows landed [before dark].
