Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'ba told us, from Abu Imran al-Jawni, who said: I said to Jundab, "I have pledged allegiance to these people" - meaning Ibn az-Zubayr - "and they want me to go out with them to Syria." He said, "Hold back." I said, "They refuse [to let me]." He said, "Ransom yourself with your wealth." I said, "They refuse unless I fight with them by the sword." Jundab said: So-and-so told me that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The slain man will come with his killer on the Day of Resurrection and say, "O Lord, ask this one why he killed me." Shu'ba said: I think he said: He will say, "For what did you kill him?" and he will say, "I killed him for the sake of the dominion of so-and-so." Jundab said: So beware of that.
