قَالَ سَمِعْت سُفْيَانَ بْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ يُسَمِّي النُّقَبَاءَ فَسَمَّى عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ مِنْهُمْ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ عُبَادَةُ عَقَبِيٌّ أُحُدِيٌّ بَدْرِيٌّ شَجَرِيٌّ وَهُوَ نَقِيبٌ.

He said: I heard Sufyan ibn Uyaynah naming the leaders (nuqaba), and he named Ubadah ibn al-Samit among them. Sufyan said: Ubadah was present at al-Aqabah, at Uhud, at Badr, and at the pledge under the Tree, and he was a naqib.
