حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا نُودِيَ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَلَا تَقُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْنِي حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَعْبَدٍ الزِّمَّانِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْ صَوْمِهِ فَغَضِبَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِينَا بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولًا فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.

Yahya narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Hisham ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Anas, who said: A young Jewish boy used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He fell ill, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) visited him. He sat by his head and said to him: "Accept Islam." He looked at his father, and his father said: 'Obey Abu al-Qasim.' So he accepted Islam. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out saying: "Praise be to Allah who saved him from the Fire."
