Surayj and Affan narrated to us, and said: Abu Awana narrated to us: al-Hurr ibn al-Sayyah narrated to us — Surayj said, from al-Hurr — from Hunayda ibn Khalid, from his wife, from one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast the nine days of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day of Ashura, and three days from every month. Affan said: "the first Monday of the month, and two Thursdays."
