Abdullah narrated to us: My father narrated to me: Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, from Zaida, from Abd al-Malik ibn Umayr, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Muadh, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed a prayer in which he performed well the standing, the humility, the bowing, and the prostration. He said, 'It is a prayer of hope and fear. I asked Allah three things in it, and He granted me two and withheld one from me. I asked Him not to send upon my nation an enemy from other than themselves who would exterminate them, and He granted it to me. I asked Him not to send upon them a famine that would kill them with hunger, and He granted it to me. And I asked Him not to make their violence among themselves, but He refused it to me.'
