حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَيَّاشِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا عَمِلَ آدَمِيٌّ عَمَلًا قَطُّ أَنْجَى لَهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ مِنْ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ.

Abdullah told us, my father told me, Hujayn ibn al-Muthanna told us, Abd al-Aziz - meaning Ibn Abi Salamah - told us, from Ziyad ibn Abi Ziyad, the freedman of Abdullah ibn Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah, that it reached him from Mu'adh ibn Jabal that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "No human being has ever done a deed more effective in saving him from the punishment of Allah than the remembrance of Allah."
