Affan and Hasan ibn Musa told us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Ali ibn Zayd — Hasan said in his narration: Ali ibn Zayd informed us — from Abu al-Malih — Hasan said: al-Hudhali — from Rawh ibn Abid, from Abu al-Awwam, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, who said: I was riding behind the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, on a red camel, and he said: O Mu'adh. I said: Here I am. He said: Do you know what is the right of Allah upon His servants? He said it three times, and I said the same three times. Then he said: His right, Mighty and Majestic, is that they worship Him and not associate anything with Him. Then he said: Do you know what is the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that? I said: Allah and His Messenger know best — he said it three times, and I said the same three times. He said: Their right upon Him, if they do that, is that He will forgive them and admit them into Paradise. (Affan and Hasan told us, Hammad told us, from Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Abu Razin, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, similarly, except that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was brought a donkey with a saddle-cloth strapped on it — except that Hasan combined the two chains of transmission in his hadith.)
