'Abd al-Razzaq told us, from Ma'mar, who said: al-Zuhri said: 'Abd al-Rahman b. Ka'b b. Malik informed me — and his father was one of the three whose repentance was accepted — from a man among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stood delivering a sermon that day. He praised Allah and extolled Him, and sought forgiveness for the martyrs who were killed on the Day of Uhud, then said: "O company of Emigrants, you are increasing, while the Ansar are not increasing; and indeed the Ansar are my chest-pocket to whom I have taken refuge — honor their noble ones and overlook the wrongdoing of their wrongdoers, for they have fulfilled what was upon them, and what remains is owed to them."
