حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عُثْمَانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْضُ بَنَاتِهِ أَنَّ صَبِيًّا لَهَا ابْنًا أَوْ ابْنَةً قَدْ احْتُضِرَتْ فَاشْهَدْنَا قَالَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا يَقْرَأُ السَّلَامَ وَيَقُولُ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا أَخَذَ وَمَا أَعْطَى وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ عِنْدَهُ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَلْتَصْبِرْ وَلْتَحْتَسِبْ فَأَرْسَلَتْ تُقْسِمُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَامَ وَقُمْنَا فَرُفِعَ الصَّبِيُّ إِلَى حِجْرِ أَوْ فِي حِجْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَفْسُهُ تَقَعْقَعُ وَفِي الْقَوْمِ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ وَأُبَيٌّ أَحْسِبُ فَفَاضَتْ عَيْنَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ سَعْدٌ مَا هَذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ هَذِهِ رَحْمَةٌ يَضَعُهَا اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَإِنَّمَا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الرُّحَمَاءَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, Shu'bah told us, from Asim al-Ahwal, who said: I heard Abu Uthman relate, from Usamah ibn Zayd, who said: One of the daughters of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent word to him that a child of hers, a boy or a girl, was dying, saying: Come to us. He sent back saying greetings of peace and: To Allah belongs what He takes and what He gives, and everything with Him has an appointed term, so let her be patient and seek reward. She sent again, adjuring him to come. So he got up, and we got up with him. The child was lifted up, or was in, the lap of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while his breath rattled. Among the people were Sa'd ibn Ubadah and Ubayy, I think. The eyes of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, overflowed with tears. Sa'd said to him: What is this, O Messenger of Allah? He said: This is a mercy which Allah places in the hearts of whichever of His servants He wills, and Allah shows mercy only to the merciful among His servants.
