Uthman ibn Umar told us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b told us, from al-Harith, from Kurayb, the freedman of Ibn Abbas, from Usamah ibn Zayd, who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he had a look of sorrow upon him. I asked him what was wrong, and he said: Gabriel has not come to me for three days. He said: Then there was a puppy between his houses, so he ordered it killed. Then Gabriel, peace be upon him, appeared to him, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, rushed toward him joyfully when he saw him. He said: You did not come to me. He said: We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or images. Husayn told us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b told us, from al-Harith ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Kurayb, the freedman of Ibn Abbas, from Usamah ibn Zayd, who said: I entered upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he had a look of sorrow upon him, and he mentioned the like of the previous hadith, except that he said: He had not come to me for three days.
