حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ قَالَ فَكَانَ زَيْدٌ يَرُوحُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ وَسِوَاكُهُ عَلَى أُذُنِهِ بِمَوْضِعِ قَلَمِ الْكَاتِبِ مَا تُقَامُ صَلَاةٌ إِلَّا اسْتَاكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Ali ibn Thabit told us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Harith al-Taymi, from Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, from Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Were it not that I would impose hardship upon my nation, I would have commanded them to use the tooth-stick before every prayer.' He said: So Zayd used to go to the mosque with his tooth-stick on his ear, in the place a scribe puts his pen; no prayer was established except he used the tooth-stick before he prayed.
