Abu al-Mughirah told us: Abu Bakr told us: Damrah ibn Habib ibn Suhayb told us, from Abu al-Darda, from Zayd ibn Thabit, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, taught him a supplication and commanded him to maintain it with his family every day. He said: 'Say every day when you rise in the morning: "Here I am, O Allah, here I am, and at Your service, and all good is in Your hands, and from You, and by You, and unto You. O Allah, whatever word I have spoken, or vow I have made, or oath I have sworn, Your will precedes it: whatever You will, is; and whatever You do not will, is not. There is no power and no strength except by You. Indeed, You are over all things capable. O Allah, whatever prayer I have invoked, let it be upon whomever You have blessed, and whatever curse I have invoked, let it be upon whomever You have cursed. Indeed, You are my guardian in this world and the hereafter; cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous. I ask You, O Allah, for contentment after Your decree, and coolness of life after death, and the pleasure of looking upon Your face, and longing to meet You, without harm that brings distress or trial that leads astray. I seek refuge in You, O Allah, from wronging or being wronged, from transgressing or being transgressed against, from committing a sin that nullifies good deeds, or a sin that is not forgiven. O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Possessor of majesty and honor, indeed I make a covenant with You in this worldly life, and I call You to witness - and sufficient are You as a witness - that I testify there is no god but You alone, with no partner, Yours is the dominion and Yours is the praise, and You are over all things capable; and I testify that Muhammad is Your servant and Your messenger; and I testify that Your promise is true, and meeting You is true, and Paradise is true, and the Hour is coming, no doubt about it, and You will resurrect those in the graves; and I testify that if You entrust me to myself, You entrust me to weakness, exposure, sin, and error, and I trust in nothing but Your mercy. So forgive me all my sins - indeed none forgives sins but You - and turn to me [in acceptance of repentance], for indeed You are the Ever-Returning, the Merciful."' Surayj told us: Ibn Abi al-Zinad told us, from his father, from Kharijah ibn Zayd, from Zayd ibn Thabit, who said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was approached upon his arrival in Madinah,' and he mentioned something similar to the hadith of Sulayman ibn Dawud, from Abu al-Zinad, from his father, from Kharijah ibn Zayd, from Zayd ibn Thabit.
