Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal told us, from Khalid ibn Dhakwan: Ayyub ibn Bushayr told me, from so-and-so al-Anazi - and he did not say al-Ghubari - that he set out with Abu Dharr, and when he returned, the people dispersed from him. I said: It is not a secret, but rather: was it his practice, when he met a man, to take his hand and shake it? He said: You have hit upon someone who knows. He never met me but that he took my hand, except one time - and that was the last of them: he sent for me, and I came to him during the illness in which he died, and I found him lying down, and I leaned over him, and he raised his hand and embraced me, peace and blessings be upon him.
