Waki' told us: al-A'mash told us, from Sulayman ibn Mushir, from Kharashah ibn al-Hurr, from Abu Dharr, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "O Abu Dharr, look at the most elevated man in the mosque." He said: I looked, and there was a man wearing a fine garment. I said: This one? He said: He said to me: "Look at the most lowly man in the mosque." I looked, and there was a man wearing worn-out clothes. I said: This one? He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "This one is better with Allah on the Day of Resurrection than an earth-full of the likes of that one." Ibn Numayr and Ya'la told us, they said: al-A'mash told us, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Abu Dharr, who said: I was walking with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in the mosque, and he said: "O Abu Dharr, raise your head and look at the most elevated man in the mosque" - and he mentioned the hadith. Muhammad ibn Ubayd told us: al-A'mash told us, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Abu Dharr, and he mentioned the hadith, and said: "Better with Allah than the fill of the earth of the likes of this one" - and thus said Mu'awiyah ibn Amr, from Zayd. And Mu'awiyah ibn Amr told us: Za'idah told us, from al-A'mash: Sulayman ibn Mushir told us, from Kharashah, and he mentioned it.
