Sufyan narrated to us, from Asim, from Abu Uthman, from Ubayy, who said: I had a cousin whose house was distant, so I said to him, "If only you would get yourself a donkey or something." He said: "It would not please me for my house to be pitched right next to the house of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him." He said: I had never heard a word from him more disagreeable to me than that. He said: Then he happened to mention the steps to the mosque, and he asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about it, and he said: "Indeed, for every step there is a degree of reward for him." Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us: Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us: Asim al-Ahwal informed us, from Abu Uthman: Ubayy ibn Ka'b narrated to me, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, you shall have what you sought reward for."
